I haven't posted here in a while. I now tend to put really important things in blurbs on the main page. Like how I recently came down with the Venezuelan monkey flu.

A few things to get off my chest.

I finally saw the Hulk. They really fucked that movie up. I don't really have any major arguments with how the changed the origin story of the Hulk, it made sense enough to me, 'cause otherwise everybody who got near gamma radiation would be going all Hulky. I think the movies biggest problems were a) Bruce Banner's father villain who seemed unaware of what his motivation, and indeed, goals, were. And then b) the editing from hell. They kept doing these comic-bookish cutaway panels showing what was happening at the same time with a different camera angle. When you watch a movie like this, it's hard enough to suspend your disbelief, but then they eidt it in such a way as to remind you every five minutes, "Hey, you're watching a movie! And look at this camera angle! Bet you've never seen that before!" Actually I have, but thanks for the jarring headache.

On the note of something that works well, Law & Order on Wednesday was brilliant. They eschewed pretty much all of the court stuff in favor of showing the cops dealing with four concurrent homicide cases in one day. It was really interesting, and totally different from the usual format of 'first half cops, second half lawyers' that everyone and their mother is used to. I think it worked really well, and I hope it'll make them more willing to break out of what has gotten to by kind of lazy scripting of late.

Anyway, I'll be going on vacation on December 23rd, and comics will not update between then and the 2nd of January. I'll be in Kaua'i. Aren't I lucky? It's my first time off the continent. I've been all over North America, but this'll by my first time off this land mass.

I've been seeing the extended versions of the Lord of the Rings movies at the Cinerama on Sundays. Good times.
